Real marble is used extensively throughout the bathroom, including a herringbone marble floor and dramatic large-format marble shower walls. The spacious walk-in shower features a custom frameless glass enclosure, recessed storage niche, and premium plumbing fixtures, allowing the natural variation and movement of the marble to become a defining element of the design. A contemporary custom vanity provides generous storage while introducing contrast against the lighter natural stone.
A freestanding soaking tub positioned directly beneath the skylight creates the focal point of the bathroom and fills the space with natural light throughout the day. What the pictures don’t show is the precision required when working with this much real marble. Unlike manufactured tile, every piece of natural stone has its own color, veining, and movement, so the material had to be carefully planned and laid out before installation.
The shower also required extensive preparation behind the marble, including waterproofing, drainage, plumbing, and precise framing for the niche and frameless glass enclosure. With large-format natural stone, getting the structure and substrate right is just as important as the finished tile work.
Once complete, all of that preparation disappears. What remains is a clean, seamless bathroom where the marble looks effortless—but achieving that simplicity required careful planning and craftsmanship from the very beginning.
