Spray Foam Insulation in a 1906 Detroit Tudor Historic Home Renovation
This image captures one of the most significant energy-efficiency upgrades during the restoration of our 1906 Detroit Tudor. With the walls and roof structure exposed, closed-cell spray foam insulation was installed throughout the roof assembly to create an airtight building envelope and dramatically improve thermal performance. At the same time, we preserved the home’s original cast-iron steam radiators, pairing them with a new high-efficiency boiler to maintain the historic heating system while adding modern comfort. Combining advanced insulation with original architectural features is a hallmark of thoughtful historic home remodeling, allowing this Detroit landmark to retain its character while performing like a modern home.
